Jeane and Jack Moore Scholarship Available to First Time Travelers

Jeane and Jack Moore were charter members of the Friendship Force of Lincoln when it was established in 1980. They traveled as ambassadors, home hosted visitors from others countries, and served in numerous other capacities. Through their participation, they made friends around the world. One of their principal concerns was that everyone have an opportunity to experience other cultures first hand, particular young adults. To that end and to honor their memory, FFL established a travel scholarship, now in the amount of $1,500.

The purpose is to provide an individual who has not traveled outside North America an opportunity for international travel and to connect at a very personal level with people from other countries and cultures. Members travel as a group, tour and learn more about their host country by interacting with club members and staying in the home of one of them. The home-stay is the heart of a Friendship Force exchange. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of need and can be applied to any outbound-international exchange sponsored by FFL within three years of receiving it.

Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the following criteria:

  1. Membership in Friendship Force of Lincoln. [Nonmembers may apply but must be members of FFL prior to receiving the scholarship].
  2. Supportive of the goals and objectives of Friendship Force.
  3. Demonstrated openness to other cultures and people.

  8. Applications from persons under18 years of age are acceptable but such persons must travel with a responsible and mature adult.
