he Inter-Club Visit between Birmingham, AL and Lincoln was successful! Held September 30-10 to positive reviews by 16 ambassadors and 8 host families. In addition to the welcome and farewell parties, activities included tours of the State Capitol and the State Museum of History, small group dinners arranged by non-hosting Friendship Force families, Labor Day picnic at Charlotte & John Luethje’s, and a 2-day trip to north-northeast Nebraska to feature examples of Nebraska agriculture and history. Ambassador participants stayed overnight at Niobrara State Park and especially enjoyed the elk-buffalo ranch in Verdell and Ashfall Fossil Beds. While most ambassadors bypassed the UAB/UNL football game, other activities that were shared with host families included: Pioneers Park, Arbor Lodge, Morrill Hall, Joslyn Art Museum, Boys Town, and much, much more! Most of the ambassadors tried and enjoyed Runzas. Plans are underway for The Friendship Force of Birmingham to host the Lincoln club in the spring of 2000, probably in April when the azaleas are gorgeous!
