Sunshine Coast, Australia Exchange
November 2-9, 1991 - 19 Ambassadors

The Lincoln-Sunshine Coast, Australia Fxchange was actually an overflow of the Lincoln - Glasshouse Mountain & Kempsey Exchange. The Glasshouse Mountain Exchange filled early and had a considerable waiting list. The Lincoln Club inquired if additional ambassadors could go to Glasshouse Mountain or if the Club could have a second exchange. Apparently another club was unable to go to the Sunshine Coast, and they were willing to host Lincoln. As a result, 19 ambassadors who otherwise would have been unable to participate were afforded this exchange Opportunity. Ambassadors ranged from ages 14 to 82, with four in the 20-30 yr. old category.

Workshops for the 32 Glasshouse Mountain ambassadors and 19 Sunshine Coast arnbassadors were held concurrently. The Glasshouse Mountain group left on November 1st with the Sunshine Coast ambassadors leaving the following day. Actually, because of a blizzard, sorne of the Glasshouse Mountain people ended up on the sarne plane with the Sunshine Coast group.

The exchange featured a one-week homestay with members of' the Sunshine Coast club, most of whom lived in and around the resort town of Caloundra which is north of Brisbane. Highlights of the exchange included a welcome by the mayor of Caloundra, a "Watch the Melbourne Cup" Luncheon, a typical Australian "barbie" (barbecue), and a trip to Frazier Island by 4-wheel drive bus.

A second week to Cairns included snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef and a visit to the Tjapukai Aboriginal Show in Kuranda. The group was able to spend a day touring Sydney prior to leaving, and some arnbassadors arranged to spend a day in Hawaii to break up the flight home.
