Israel-Lincoln Incoming Exchange
August 9-13, 1988

The Friendship Force office in Atlanta contacted the Lincoln club in June, 1988 to see if Lincoln would be interested in hosting an incoming exchange from Israel scheduled to arrive in mid-August. Lincoln accepted, and 14 arnbassadors from Tel Aviv and other parts of Israel arrived the evening of August 9th.

A welcome party, featuring a typical Midwestern dinner of prime rib, was held at a local club the following evening. Ambassadors visited the State Capitol, where Lt. Governor William Nichol explained the Unicameral Legislature and State Treasurer Frank Marsh escorted the group on a tour of the building.

The Israeli ambassadors were disappointed that they were unable to make a day trip to the mountains from Lincoln, and decided to leave early. As a result, their hosts attempted to pack in everything they had planned into the final day ... shopping, a visit to the Henry Doody Zoo, a play, and a farewell dinner. The arnbassadors left on the 13th.

A picnic, combined with the club's annual meeting, was scheduled for the 14th. It was held as planned, and many club members were disappointed that they did not have the opportunity to meet the visitors from Israel.
