was
so excited I had received an invitation from Sachiko to visit Japan. I immediately
called my children, their response was "GO MOM GO!" Yes, I went, a fantastic
trip! Heiji
and Hiroko, my first host and hostess where very interesting and eager to
show us their beautiful parks, museums, mountais and cherry blossoms.
Frequently
I was awaked by a rooster crowing, at that time I got up and went into the
adjoining room as the lights went on automatically. I stepped into the hall,
again automatic lights went on as I opened the bathroom door, lights went
on, then I sat on a warm seat. Of
course, I had to visit the dentist as my tooth had fallen out when I landed
at the Osaka Airport. Ken Takayama was helpful and glued the tooth in place,
not one, but twice. He was very kind and thoughtful. Although I could not
communicate with him, I appreciated his kindness. Sachiko
was the same vibrant person she had been six years ago at my home in Nebraska.
She had a Japanese dinner for me, so I was able to meet her family and friends.
A delightful time, and lots of good food. Her sister Reiko, made many gifts
for me including two purse and a shawl. My
"private party" as Sachiko called it was at her nephew's in Ado. Mari (wife)
spoke English quite well, so she took me to various interesting places.
She also took me to visit teh school. The kindergarten teacher had me sit
in front of her class. She then had each student come up to me and say,
"Good morning, my name is _______________." That
was very special, reminding me of my teaching days. Thanks Friends!
